Rahul KP’s solo goal went in vain as the Indian men’s football team slumped to a 1-5 loss to host China in the opening game of the Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou on Tuesday.
Despite hinting at resting veterans Sunil Chhetri and Sandesh Jhingan for the opening game, both senior national team regulars made it to the starting line-up. But China, starting on the offensive right from kick-off, found the breakthrough int he 17th minute from the set-piece.
